RESIDENTIAL EXTENSION & GRANNY FLAT, CO. LOUTH

This project involved a traditional farm house and out buildings dating from the early 1800’s that were added to and modified over two centuries, situated on a challenging tiered site.

The brief was to extend the existing dwelling and provide a new porch, living/dining area, utility room, ground floor shower room, and addition first floor bedroom, as well as to convert and extend an existing outbuilding for use as a Granny Flat.

Most of the additional accommodation is clustered around a new courtyard, which becomes a focal point and meeting place for all the occupants.

Planning permission was successfully granted for this development.

“We couldn’t recommend Martin highly enough. Martin designed the conversion of an existing out building into a separate granny flat and a large extension to our existing house.  This was demanding due to the complexity of our site and the strict planning conditions attached to our area, which is of significant natural beauty.  As two novice first time buyers, Martin made both the design process and planning application completely stress free. He is knowledgeable, extremely efficient and always quick to respond to queries.”
